Three awesome things: A rainbow, a skud18 sailing boat, and my boyfriend. This is outside my parent’s house. Their neighbour is wheelchair bound but very active, and this boat (the skud) was parked outside his place last time I went over. It’s designed to be used by sailors with mobility impairments. The skipper and crew sit in moulded seats which are more secure, and the boat has a weighted keel and is built to be much more stable, and also designed so that if it tips on its side, even a completely paralysed sailor will have their head above water. It’s a very neat design and you can see some videos on youtube of it in action. I recently learnt how to sail dinghies and I loved it so was really interested to see this boat. Shame the weather’s getting cold here now so it’s not really sailing weather…maybe I just need to harden up!
